A Brief Introduction to Internet Frauds

In this century everyone of us is using the easiest and the fastest modern technology called Internet. Although Internet provides us many benefits, however people misuse it to create all sorts of frauds. Therefore, this is what we named as "Internet Frauds". Internet fraud generally refers to any type of fraud scheme that uses one or more online services to present fraudulent solicitations to prospective victims, to conduct fraudulent transactions, or to transmit the proceeds of fraud to financial institution or to others connected with the scheme. Internet fraud can take place on computer programs such as chat rooms (Yahoo, Msn, Paltalk), blogs (Blogger, Google, Wordpress), emails (Hotmail, Yahoo), message boards (Forums), or Web sites.

As we used Internet from last time til now, we are able to see that Internet progress is doing much better now compared to the past. This is because people now would rather spend less time doing more things to gain better profit and Internet is one of the new technologies that had these benefits which able to fulfill what people want from time to time by making advancement and changes to serve better. This is shown by the crowd lately by using Internet, things are able to be done in a more efficient and sufficient way. For example, when we are doing research for some information, making business decision or inquiries with client and businessman all over the world in different places and personal interactions with friends and family by using Internet just in short time things that we look for is easier to be discovered and connected.

Due to this reason, people who engage in fraud will operate by making used of these advantages as the weakness of human. For example, those people who engage in fraud is able to send all kinds of e-mail messages to worldwide in seconds, or by posting Web site information that is readily available from anywhere in the world which is use to carry out a variety type of fraudulent schemes more quickly than those possible fraud schemes in the past.


As the conclusion, the same types of fraud schemes that have mistreated consumers and investors for so many years before the information of the Internet exist like some of the particular improvement that are unique to Internet technology. In addition, with the explosive
growth of the Internet , and e-commerce in particular, online criminals try to show and improve fraudulent schemes in ways that look, as much as possible, like the goods and services that vast majority of legal e-commerce merchants offer. In such a process, they not only cause harm to consumers and investors but also chip away at consumer confidence in legal e-commerce and Internet.

  2. Calvin Tan: This type of fraud is common between year 2004-2007 in Malaysia. The website usually written in Malay language to attract Malay investor to invest on-line. The website usually active between week to few month later on to shut down.
